Two companies to employ 200 workers in Subotica

Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic signed today in Subotica two agreements on encouraging foreign direct investment with representatives of the companies 8. mart and Tehnokop, which will employ approximately 200 workers.

The textile company 8. mart will employ about 140 new workers and for this purpose it received incentives in the amount of €5,000 per new employee, while the food company Tehnokop, which will employ 55 people, received incentives worth €4,000.
These two companies have qualified in 17th round of the Programme for attracting foreign direct investment that is implemented by the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA).
After signing the agreement in the company 8. mart, Dinkic underlined that the Serbian government supports businesses that hire new people, given that unemployment is the biggest problem in Serbia.
According to him, in this way the government also denies the claims that it supports only foreign company, and 8. mart shows in fierce competition with foreign companies that local companies can be successful too.
He said that this company, which in 1999 was facing bankruptcy, today due to good management hires new workers and regularly pays salaries and taxes.
Dinkic noted that the entire output of 8.mart is immediately sold out at the most demanding European market, that of Germany.
The Minister also praised the fact that this company does not employ only young workers, but employees of all ages who work with equal responsibility, adding that the same is true for Tehnokop although this company has a smaller volume of trade.
Serbia is a country that has conditions for a more rapid development of agriculture and we need to invest in the food industry, and this company manufactures the most advanced types of cold storage plants, purchases agricultural products and is also export-oriented, Dinkic underlined.
