Upon the visit to the stone pit of EMS Kijevo, Bubalo said that objections to the privatisation of this company sent to the Anti-Corruption Council are not founded because the buyer, Italian company Gruppo Adige Bitumi, has invested more funds that envisaged by the contract and respected all regulations concerning the protection of the environment.
"It is not necessary to make affairs of successful privatisations. However, where irregularities exist, the buyers should be reminded of contract provisions and if those provisions continue to be violated, the contract must be annulled," Bubalo said.
The Minister stressed that objections to the privatisation of this stone pit are unfounded, because the first data points show that production has increased threefold, that the company continues to be led by domestic management and that salaries are above the average in the city and Serbia.
He said that the Italians have invested much more than was spelled out in the contract and that regulations on environmental protection and noise reduction have been respected through a positioning of the state-of-the-art machines at the bottom of the stone pit and by using less explosives for mining.
Bubalo said that the supervision of work of all privatised companies will be continued and that the authorities will be open to cooperation with all those who point to irregularities in an objective way.
