The statement of the Ministry of Finance and Economy said that in addition to the implementation of already agreed activities there is willingness to initiate new projects.
After meeting with a World Bank delegation, led by the Regional Director and Coordinator of the World Bank Country Director Jane Armitage and head of the World Bank Office in Serbia Lu Brefor, Dinkic expressed satisfaction with the talks.
We talked about the measures that we plan to implement in order to introduce order into the financial sector and public finances in general. The World Bank has indicated its willingness to continue with its support to Serbia, said the Minister.
He pointed out that the World Bank’s support is very important so that we overcome as quickly as possible the disastrous current situation with the budget.
He said that in the future Serbia could count on $ 400 million in direct budget support under very favourable conditions.
He explained that those loans will be with a repayment period of 18 years, grace period of 5 to 7 years and an interest rate slightly higher than 1%, which represents the most favourable conditions on the world market.
The dynamics of approving loans will depend on the pace of reforms and implementation of the proposed agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The second package of loans is related to investment projects for the improvement in the areas of agriculture, transport infrastructure, health, etc., the statement said.
