The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy stated today that there will be three non-working days for the upcoming New Year’s holiday – 1,2 and 3 January.
The Law on public and other holidays in the Republic of Serbia prescribes that New Year is a public holiday and is celebrated on 1 and 2 January.
The law envisages that if a public holiday is celebrated on Sunday, the first next working day also becomes non-working.
Since 1 and 2 January are Sunday and Monday, Tuesday 3 January is also a non-working day.
In line with this law, the first day of Christmas – 7 January is a religious holiday and a non-working day.
The Christmas of 2012 is on Saturday and is celebrated on that day, reads the statement.
