President of the National council for cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) Rasim Ljajic spoke today in Belgrade with US Ambassador for War Crimes Stephen Rapp.
Ljajic said that the completion of Serbia's cooperation with the Tribunal in terms of handing over the indictees and the fact that cooperation with this court is continuously developing at a professional level in all other aspects and that there are no open issues, is of great importance for regional stability and the processes of rule of law and reconciliation.
Rapp praised the Serbian authorities on the results achieved in cooperation with the ICTY.
Rapp and Ljajic also discussed the investigation of human organ trafficking in Kosovo-Metohija, and agreed that it is necessary to conduct a quick, thorough and independent investigation that would lead to establishing the full truth so that those responsible could be punished.
The two officials also agreed that the achievement of these goals requires cooperation of all relevant institutions in the region as well as adequate protection of witnesses.
