Minister of Youth and Sport Snezana Samardzic-Markovic met today with European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism, Sport, Media and Youth Androulla Vassiliou to discuss new trends of simplified EU curricula for the education of the youth, as well as to look at the issue of doping and violence in sport.

They also talked about Serbia and France’s joint initiative to change the Council of Europe Convention on Spectator Violence and Misbehaviour at Sports Events.
Samardzic-Markovic invited Vassiliou to a ministerial conference about rigging sport matches to be held in Belgrade in March.
Vassiliou voiced her pleasure at Serbia’s active participation in many European youth programmes such as “Youth in Action”, which deals with student exchange, or volunteer campaigns offering young people a chance to learn additional skills and gain self-confidence.
She said sports were given additional importance with the adoption of the Lisbon Convention and that one of EU priorities is to combat violence at sport events.
Samardzic-Markovic introduced the Commissioner with members of an informal youth group “Cobra”, last year’s winners at a competition of volunteers in Serbia.
