Mrkonjic said that airlines in this way are provided with optimum market conditions while passengers will be able to fly directly between Serbia and Australia after many years.
Studdert and Mrkonjic also initialled a bilateral agreement establishing cooperation between Serbia and Australia in the field of air transport.
This document is based on the principle of free competition and allow airlines of countries signatories to carry up to seven weekly flights from Serbia to Australia's major airports in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
Domestic airlines will have unlimited access to all regional international airports in the territory of Australia, and the agreement provides for the so-called "code-share" system in ticket sales and freight forwarding.
The agreement opens new opportunities for the tourism industry of both countries.
Also, Serbian community in Australia of more than 95,000 people will now have direct connection with the homeland, the statement added.
