Jun Park and Mladjan Dinkic
Dinkic said that Jun, who is also an economic advisor to the Korean President, proposed the construction of such a park in Serbia so that several companies could start their car parts production in one location.
He explained that car parts would be exported for Hyundai and Kia vehicles to Slovakia and the Czech Republic, as well as for vehicles of other companies cooperating with Korean producers, such as Volkswagen.
The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed this idea, adding that they agreed that a delegation of Korean car part producers, headed by representatives from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), should visit Serbia and discuss further details concerning the industrial park.
Dinkic underscored that Korean companies have been given encouragement in the form of favourable conditions for investment and positive experiences of the Yura Company, which managed to launch production in Raca and take on 1,300 workers in only five months, as well as begin the construction of a new factory in Nis.
Our Korean colleagues told us that Serbia is an extremely interesting target location for investing in the car industry since it has a qualified and motivated labour force, a favourable investment climate and government incentives for new jobs, Dinkic observed.
During the meeting they agreed that Serbia’s good geographical position, relative proximity of car producers in Europe and free trade agreements with large markets, to which products can be exported without customs tax, are its huge benefits.
They also declared that the two countries successfully concluded bilateral talks about Serbia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation.
Today in Seoul Dinkic met with representatives from over 60 Korean companies at an investment conference organised by the KOTRA agency. He also delivered a lecture on the favourable aspects of investing in Serbia titled “Serbia as a Production and Investment Target – Possibilities for Korean Companies.”
The Deputy Prime Minister will visit the Samsung Company tomorrow, a global leader in telecommunications and digital media, reads the Ministry’s statement.
