New boiler factory in Stara Pazova to employ 500 workers

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic and member of the managing board of Gorenje Branko Apat signed an agreement on encouraging investment to build a new boiler factory in Stara Pazova.

Dinkic said after the signing of the document that the value of the new factory is €11.7 million and announced that it will be completed by 1 December employing 500 new workers.

The government supported this investment with €4,000 per newly-created job, outlined the Minister and recalled that Gorenje in Serbia employs more than 700 people in the white goods factory in Valjevo and boiler factory in Stara Pazova.

Gorenje exports goods worth approximately €50 million from Serbia annually, he highlighted noting that with the construction of the new factory in Stara Pazova, the Slovenian company’s exports from Serbia will be worth more than €100 million a year.

In the first seven months of this year, Serbian exports increased to 20% thanks to, among other things, Gorenje, confirmed the Minister.

The Minister stated that the boilers from Gorenje produced in Stara Pazova will be exported worldwide carrying the label "Made in Serbia".

Apat observed that Gorenje currently has 33 companies in Slovenia, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Finland and Sweden, with a total turnover of €1.2 billion.

He expressed confidence that by the end of the year the company will achieve a turnover of €1.5 billion and added that Gorenje employs more than 10,000 employees.
