Namely, Dinkic signed agreements with representatives of HG Hotels, Sol Melia and international investment fund Sigma Capital Management.
Dinkic also visited the construction site of a hotel on Stara Planina and stressed that investment in the development of the tourist centre on Stara Planina in the next year and a half will be between €50 and €60 million.
Public company Stara Planina plans to build three four-star hotels by the end of 2011 with a capacity of 450 beds, which will be owned by the state and managed by Spanish HG Hotels, said Dinkic.
He added that the Spanish company will manage these hotels for a period of at least five years.
Public company Stara Planina and Sigma Capital Management will form a joint venture to build another three hotels, with a capacity of 450 beds, he announced.
The Serbian company will provide infrastructure and land, whereas Sigma Capital Management will fund the construction and Sol Melia will manage these hotels.
Dinkic observed that to date Spain has not invested in Serbia’s tourism and welcomed this investment on Stara Planina which is in the poorest region of Serbia.
The idea is to make Stara Planina the leading mountain resort in eastern Serbia, just like Zlatibor is for western Serbia and Kopaonik for Central Serbia, Dinkic explained.
Continuous investment will be made into skiing infrastructure on Stara Planina. Apart from the existing two ski lifts, another two four-seat ski lifts will be installed. Also, the first gondola in Serbia will be made by the end of next year.
The Minister confirmed that 20 kilometres of ski tracks will be made, and by the end of 2011, it will be possible to cover 10 kilometres of tracks with artificial snow.
The company HG Hotels, which has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, has its hotel chains and apartment resorts in the most prestigious tourist resorts of Spain – the Canary Islands, Tenerife, Sierra Nevada and La Molina.
Sol Melia is the world’s leading operator of luxurious hotel complexes and manages more than 300 hotels in 30 countries worldwide and has more than 35,000 employees.
Sigma Capital Management has invested more than €150 million in building four resorts in Bulgaria to date, covering an area of 260,000 square metres.
