Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinovic spoke today with US Ambassador to Serbia Mary Warlick about Serbia’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), economic recovery and US support to Serbia.
In the talks, Dragutinovic pointed to the importance of a new model of Serbia’s economic growth based on increase of exports and decrease of imports.
In the first four months of the year, exports have increased by 20%, while imports have dropped. This will enable Serbia to have a quicker and easier exit from the economic crisis.
Warlick welcomed the adoption of a fiscal responsibility law which will reduce the budgetary deficit and make clear fiscal instruments which will be used according to clearly set rules.
The US Ambassador promised Serbia all the necessary technical assistance, especially in the process of adoption of new laws, which will accelerate the establishment of a modern market economy.
