UN Secretary General Deputy Special Representative for Police and Justice Jean Christian Cady insisted that UNMIK is making every effort to prosecute all ethnic Albanians who organised attacks on Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija in March of this year. To date, charges have been brought against 270 persons who took part in the attacks.
Minister Stojkovic said that he personally insists that the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office immediately start proceedings against all indictees who are on the territory of Serbia, and that UNMIK should also do everything within its jurisdiction to bring to justice war criminals who are on the territory of Kosovo-Metohija.
In connection with that, an agreement was made on establishing a working relationship between UNMIK and the Ministry of Justice. This includes securing and exchanging documentation, interviewing witnesses and providing all other evidence relevant for conducting trials against those indicted for war crimes and other criminal acts.
Participants in the meeting agreed to accelerate the process of tracing the missing in Kosovo-Metohija, regardless of their ethnicity, which was suspended due to technical problems and reorganisation of the UNMIK office in Pristina.
