Petković pointed out that Belgrade has fulfilled all of its obligations, but that the key part of the First Brussels Agreement are the provisions relating to the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, intended to serve as the cornerstone for the protection of the position and rights of the Serbian people, which would undoubtedly contribute to social and political stability in Kosovo and Metohija.
Belgrade, despite the lack of goodwill from Priština, remains consistently committed to dialogue as the only reasonable path for resolving difficult issues in Kosovo and Metohija and resolute in its demands for the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, the Director of the Office reiterated.
He underlined that this is what our delegation emphasises during every round of negotiations in Brussels, expecting the European Union, as the guarantor of the signed agreement, to compel Priština to honour its undertaken obligations.
On our part, as he said, there is a clear commitment to continue seeking compromise solutions by working diligently towards peace and stability, even when there is no interlocutor in Priština for such an approach.
Petković stressed that official Belgrade will continue to insist on finding sustainable and lasting solutions through dialogue that would ensure long-term stabilisation of the region and guarantee security and respect for human, civil and political rights of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.
However, as he warned, without the Community of Serb Municipalities, there can be no coexistence, lasting peace or stability in Kosovo and Metohija, because Priština, instead of respecting the agreement, resorts to unilateral, escalatory and unlawful moves, and representatives of the international community must be aware of this.
Therefore, the Community of Serb Municipalities, with all its executive competences, as agreed in 2013 and 2015, must be a priority topic at the Brussels table, exclusively in terms of its full implementation, he emphasised.
