Speaking at a ceremony at which municipalities with a good business environment were presented with certificates, Dinkic said that the largest amount of that money will be sent to the poorest Serbian municipalities.
He voiced the hope that the Ministry of Finance will show understanding and further increase funding from the budget intended for local self-governments, which was decreased due to the economic crisis.
Among the first interventions should be transfers to the poorest local self-governments, because budget income in April and May was much better than in the first quarter of 2010, he declared.
According to data from the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, budget transfers to towns and municipalities in 2009 were lower by RSD 15 billion, while the reduction in 2010 will be around RSD 20 billion.
The Serbian budget for 2010 envisages transfers to municipalities and towns amounting to RSD 25.7 billion.
The certification programme was organised by the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) with the aim of promoting standards of quality of services and information which municipalities provide to business entities through efficient, responsible and transparent management at a local level and by enabling them with the most favourable conditions for investment and business.
