Djelic stressed that over €850,000 has been invested in the company’s production areas, equipment and irrigation system, adding that the key factors why the Israeli company decided to invest in Svilajnac are the climate and production conditions.
He noted that 30 Svilajnac residents have been employed by the company and given an average salary of €400.
The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the production is carried out by hand, announcing that within a year or two, over 1,000 workers may be employed by the factory.
Thanks to good production conditions, the first export contingent of 1.5 tonnes of culinary herbs will be sent to Germany as early as 9 June, Djelic stressed specifying that the company will supply culinary herbs to domestic, Western European and Russian markets.
Kol highlighted that Green Only has favourable conditions for producing culinary herbs in Serbia, which is why Serbia and Israel should continue production in other fields as well.
Green Only currently produces culinary herbs (chives, mint, tarragon, parsley, dill, chervil), grown on a field of ten hectares and plans to expand production to around 100 hectares.
Following the opening, Djelic attended a presentation of the Science Museum project and confirmed that the nature centre, the construction of which requires €3–5 million, will be built on a parcel of land somewhat more than a hectare.
The nature centre in Svilajnac will be the first of its kind in the Balkans, Djelic underlined, voicing his belief that visitors will find it interesting and attractive.
