Corridor 10 is a chance for economic development of entire region

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic and Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Pesevski agreed at today’s meeting in Skopje that the completion of Corridor 10 is a chance for the entire region.
Dinkic, who is on a working visit to Macedonia, said that this important international corridor will be finished in the next few years. He underlined that Serbia’s experience has shown that in the conditions of the world economic crisis, the biggest industries from Western and Central Europe are moving to places along Corridor 10.
This is why completion of Corridor 10 in Serbia and Macedonia will not only be of importance for the development of transport, but for the development of industry and arrival of foreign investors as well.
He underlined that it is important that both countries intensify works on the completion of Corridor 10. The works which Serbia has already started will have been finished in Vojvodina by May next year, while the section from Leskovac to the Macedonian border will be completed by 2012.
Pesevski confirmed that works on this Corridor in Macedonia will have been completed by the end of 2013 and thus, Thessaloniki and Hungary will be connected via motorway. This will allow for the transport of goods from the Middle East to Europe to be accelerated by as much as two weeks.
Dinkic and Pesevski reached an agreement to abolish all non-customs barriers related to complicated procedures at border crossings so that trade between the two countries could develop faster.
