Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinovic has officially put the Tax Administration’s Contact Centre into operation, which should enable better communication between tax payers and this body.
Dragutinovic said that approximately €2.7 million was invested in the opening of this centre.
Dragutinovic said that the Contact Centre is a part of the overall reform of the fiscal system, the aim of which is to encourage economic growth, employment and exports, but also to limit public spending and collect higher taxes on general spending.
Director of the Tax Administration Dragutin Radosavljevic said that the establishment of the Contact Centre is a major step forward in the modernisation of the Administration.
The purpose of establishing the Centre is to provide daily service to clients through clear and precise communication and provision of information, instructions and answers to tax payers’ inquiries.
Head of the European Commission Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert said that the Delegation allocated nearly €2.5 million for this Centre. He stressed that this project shows that the EU is firmly committed to supporting Serbia in its administrative reform process.
Degert voiced the hope that the Centre will help build better relations between the Tax Administration and tax payers and will encourage people to fulfil their tax obligations voluntarily.
