Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic stated that Serbia will come out of the recession in the first half of 2010, noting however that this does not imply an immediate turn for the better for its citizens.

Appearing on Studio B television last night, Dinkic said it is realistic to expect that life in Serbia will be much better next year.
He said it is good that exports in the first two months of the year increased by 12–13% compared to the same period in 2009, and in addition the foreign trade deficit is decreasing.
The Minister noted that GDP will go up by a few percent in the first quarter, adding that this will be the first positive turn after four straight negative quarters.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the biggest problem in Serbia is unemployment, noting that it has never been as high as it is presently.
He also reiterated that salaries and pensions will most likely be unfrozen as of September, adding that he will insist on this in talks with IMF representatives, who will be coming to Serbia in May.
