The Ministry of Economy and Regional Development founded the Business Council for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) today, which consists of representatives of more than 80 companies from Serbia.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic said at a press conference held after the Council’s first session that the aim of this body is to provide better presentation of the needs and problems of entrepreneurs to the Serbian government.
He said that SMEs employ a million people in Serbia and that this is the most important and most flexible sector when it comes to employment and economic development.
A new law on craftsmanship was also discussed at the meeting, which will be on the agenda for public debate next month and it will be forwarded to the Serbian parliament for discussion in May.
President of the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Zarko Milisavljevic said that these companies will not freeze earnings and voiced the hope that they will keep the same number of employees.
