Serbia's average monthly net salaries increased by 5.3 percent in February, with minimum and average consumer price baskets rising 2.2 percent and 1.7 percent respectively, he said.
According to the Serbian Statistics Office, the minimum consumer price basket in February increased by 247 dinars, to 11,356 dinars, while the average price basket went up by 302 dinars, to 18,362 dinars, the Minister said.
The cost of living edged up 0.7 percent against January, while retail prices rose 0.9 percent, Dimitrijevic went on to say, adding that the annual inflation rate may stand at around seven percent if the positive trend continues into the second half of the year.
Average monthly wages grew to 12,713 dinars on a 17 percent increase in non-industrial sectors, he added. Salaries in industrial sectors remained at the January level.
Citizens needed 0.89 average monthly net salaries to cover the minimum consumer price basket, or 1.44 salaries to cover the average price basket.
