Minister of Mining and Energy in a caretaker capacity Dubravka Đedović Handanović stated today that Serbia aims to develop major energy projects, such as the Đerdap 3 pumped-storage hydropower plant (HPP), as part of broader regional infrastructure, and to open new opportunities for investment, technological development, and the strengthening of energy security through cooperation with international partners.

Speaking at the Danube Future Forum, organised by the Pupin Initiative, Đedović Handanović noted that the Danube serves as the region’s development axis, while the energy sector forms the foundation for new investments and enhanced international connectivity.
She said that the agreement on strategic cooperation in energy with the United States creates room for a greater presence of US companies, the application of advanced technologies, and the integration of capital and expertise, citing Đerdap 3 as a project capable of delivering tangible results.
Đerdap 3 is expected to contribute to the stability of the power system, the improved utilisation of renewable energy sources, and a more secure electricity supply, the Minister explained.
At the same time, this is an investment that could spur significant economic activity, engage the domestic construction and power industries, and pave the way for new jobs, she added.
