At the opening of the seminar “Accreditation – the road to successful consumer“, organised by the Serbian Accreditation Body, she said that the draft of the new law on accreditation has been completed.
A public debate on it will start in March and the government should adopt the bill by the end of June, she said.
Vice President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Vidosava Dzagic stressed that the implementation of the Interim Trade Agreement with the EU gives the Serbian economy an opportunity to overcome these customs barriers before it joins the EU, and the Chamber of Commerce will be of assistance in this respect.
First Advisor in the European Commission delegation to Serbia Jose Bustamante stressed that with its assistance programmes the EU has shown a willingness to help Serbia introduce standards in consumer protection.
Bustamante noted that thanks to various institutions, such as the Serbian Accreditation Body, Institute for Standardisation, Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals, Serbia is making headway in improving technical standards.
