The Ministry of Trade and Services stated that the two officials agreed that there are great opportunities for increasing cooperation in the trade sector, the food industry, energy, the wood processing sector, as well as the implementation of important infrastructure projects.
Serbia is part of the international global market and offers very favourable conditions to foreign investors, said Milosavljevic and pointed out that Serbia has agreements on free trade with Russia, Belarus, Turkey and the CEFTA region.
Milosavljevic said he believes Ikea will enter the Serbian market this year.
Sweden is the most important economic partner of Serbia among the Scandinavian countries, but the volume of trade is still relatively modest and not in accordance with the actual needs and possibilities of the two countries, the two ministers agreed.
Total trade between Serbia and Sweden in 2008 was worth $288.6 million, in which Serbia generated a deficit of $196.2 million, while the import to export ratio was 19.1%.
In 2009, the global economic crisis brought about a decline in trade between Serbia and Sweden, so the value of exchange amounted to $197 million, added the statement.
