Upon visiting the company Lav Collection from Grocka, whose owner started his own business in 2007 with a start-up loan and employing 10 workers, Dinkic said that the Ministry announced a new competition for start-up loans without a mortgage.
He said that over 40 persons have been sued for unauthorized use of start-up loans and added that the prosecuting authorities should punish them harshly.
However, unauthorized use of loans was discovered in only three percent of cases and there have been more positive examples, like Lav Collection from Grocka which specialises in the production of clothes for children.
Deputy Director of the Serbian Agency for Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Entrepreneurship Goran Dzafic said that it was discovered that the funds from start-up loans have been used for holidays and for purchasing cars and flats.
He said that there were cases of people who would take loans for opening companies and then these being immediately closed down after that. It is possible in such cases the funds were used for lending money and attaining higher interest rates, because the interest on start-up loans was one percent.
Dzafic said that for this reason the interest will be increased this year to 2.5% and the controls of spending funds from these loans will be tightened.
