Banatski Dvor Joint Venture will be 51% owned by Gazprom and 49% by Srbijagas.
Bajatovic told a news conference after the signing of the contract that the Director and Chairman of the Board of the Banatski Dvor Joint Venture will be Vladimir Kuznetsov and that the company will be registered on Monday, February 8, under the laws of Serbia.
Bajatovic said that the first phase of storing gas in Banatski Dvor will be completed by the end of March.
He announced that by the end of this year Banatski Dvor will store 470 million cubic metres of gas, which is enough for a secure supply of energy for Serbia. Of that quantity Gazprom should supply 350 million cubic metres.
Biryulin announced that Gazprom will start pumping in gas into the underground gas storage facility Banatski Dvor on April 1.
He stressed that Gazprom’s strategic orientation is the development of gas storage in Europe and is currently working on six such projects.
The agreement on the formation of a joint company for the Banatski Dvor gas storage facility was signed by General Director Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic and Gazprom Deputy Chairman Alexei Miller on October 20 last year in the presence of Serbian and Russian Presidents, Boris Tadic and Dmitry Medvedev.
