According to the statement, the ministries are asked to explain why they decline to adopt these recommendations. The Unit for “regulatory guillotine” should submit the harmonised recommendations to the government for adoption by mid-February.
On December 29, 2009, the Serbian government adopted the first set of harmonised recommendations that will bring savings of €60 million to the state.
According to information available to the Unit, the majority of these recommendations are still not being implemented in practice. The Unit recalls that the deadline for implementation of the adopted recommendations that refer to laws is March 31, 2010.
The estimates are that the Serbian economy loses at least €180 million annually due to complicated and unnecessary procedures. Whether the savings available will be made depends exclusively on the agility of ministries that are competent for regulations in question, the statement adds.
