Those offices had been warned earlier that they were required to apply for registration into the Registry of Foreign Associations until January 22, which is part of APR as of October 22, 2009.
If they fail to do so, in line with the new Law on associations, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, number 51/2009 from July 14, 2009, they will be prohibited from working until they make a new registration.
According to Article 86 of the Law on associations, foreign associations that began working in Serbia before the new Law was implemented are under obligation to apply for registration within three months.
The Registry of Foreign Associations received 45 applications by January 25. Another 64 foreigners reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with their letters of support authorising them to do business in Serbia through their representative offices.
Foreign funds, foundations and non-profit making associations that are not under obligation to register with the Registry of Foreign Associations, are registered at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Therefore the APR invited foreign legal persons to once again check whether they are properly registered and fulfil their legal obligations.
