Vesna Peric
Peric told the Beta news agency that this year SIEPA was present at 12 foreign trade shows, in which 80 Serbian companies participated, which is fewer than in earlier years due to a smaller budget.
She said it is good that, despite the crisis, Serbia managed to attract $2 billion in foreign investments, i.e. the same amount as in 2008.
Although this has been a difficult year because of the crisis, Serbia managed to attract a great deal of investment, Peric said.
She noted that the largest investment this year was the sale of 51% of the Serbian oil industry NIS to Russia’s Gazprom Neft for €400 million, stressing that the largest direct investment was that of the Austrian company Kronospan in Lapovo.
We do not assess the investment by its amount, but by the number of new jobs it creates, Peric explained.
If Kronospan is satisfied with its business here, it will expand production and begin two new investment cycles, Peric noted, adding that interest from potential investors increased around the end of this year.
