Speaking at the opening ceremony of the factory in Prokuplje, Dinkic said that a total of €10 million was invested in it.
The Minister remarked that what Fiat means for Kragujevac, LEONI is for Prokuplje, stressing that at the moment the factory employs more than 350 workers and that by the middle of next year this number will be increased to 600, while by 2012 a total of 1,300 workers will be employed.
He said that the state approved a total of €6.5 million for supporting the factory through the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency and provided €5,000 for new job created.
Dinkic said that he is pleased that even in difficult conditions
Serbia has improved its credit rating, adding that Serbia is aspiring to become a centre of the car industry in Europe.
The opening of the factory was also attended by Serbian President Boris Tadic, Head of the LEONI Management Board Uwe Lamann and Director of the factory in Prokuplje Peter Prohaska.
The company in Prokuplje is part of the LEONI AG Corporation, which was founded in 1917 and it employs some 51,000 workers in 35 countries worldwide.
LEONI’s main market is the car industry and their clients include companies such as Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Opel, Citroen and Peugeot.
