Dinkic stressed that cooperation with countries in the region is of huge political and economic significance for Serbia, adding that in the first eight months of 2009 Serbia exported €1.2 billion worth of goods to CEFTA countries and imported goods to the amount of €500 million, thus garnering a surplus of €700 million.
Dinkic said that the surplus may even exceed €1 billion by the year’s end.
He stressed that next year, when Serbia takes over the CEFTA presidency, it will be in its interests to continue talks on the liberalisation of services, improvement of investment conditions and better integration in the region.
Dinkic added that as one of the leading CEFTA countries Serbia is greatly interested in continuing and developing all forms of free trade.
He said that in 2009 Serbia placed 36% of its total exports on the CEFTA market and 54% on the EU market.
At the third meeting of the CEFTA joint committee the ministers of economy of Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, Croatia and Albania agreed to improve the business climate in the region and to increase trade in order to deal with the current economic crisis.
Today in Podgorica Dinkic and his Montenegrin counterpart Branko Vujovic will sign an agreement concerning economic cooperation and another agreement on mutual investment incentives and protections.
