The European Commission proposed today to the EU Council of Ministers the approval of a €200 million loan in macrofinancial assistance to Serbia for overcoming problems caused by the global economic crisis.
According to a statement by the European Commission Delegation to Serbia, the loan will be linked to Serbia’s arrangement with the IMF and will be provided in two tranches, very likely during the second and fourth quarters of 2010.
The loan will help Serbia implement the agreement with the IMF.
Earlier this year the EU
approved €100 million in non-repayable assistance to the Serbian budget from the IPA programme funds.
