Dinkic said that an application for funding for the two roads in Sandzak was submitted to Turk Eximbank today, specifying that the total cost of the reconstruction of the two regional roads, Novi Pazar – Tutin and Novi Pazar – Sjenica, is estimated at $30 million.
He said that Turk Eximbank will finance 85% of the reconstruction and Serbia will invest 15%. The project also includes the reconstruction of two bridges.
He said that the Novi Pazar – Sjenica highway connects the Zlatibor and Raska districts and is one of the most frequently used routes to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Dinkic confirmed that Serbia and Turkey are negotiating a general agreement concerning transport infrastructure cooperation, adding that the agreement is very similar to the one Serbia signed with China during Serbian President Boris Tadic’s visit to China.
Dinkic said that Turkish President Abdullah Gul will visit Serbia in late October and voiced hope that the transport cooperation agreement with Turkey will be signed then.
He explained that this agreement will also serve as a basis for the implementation of the two above-mentioned projects in Sandzak and perhaps for several more important infrastructural projects in the field of transport in Serbia.
The delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, which is attending the Annual Meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, also met today with representatives of the leading world engineering and construction group, Canadian SNC-Lavalin, which has prepared a preliminary feasibility study for a new smelting plant and sulphuric acid factory at the RTB Bor complex.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Financial Officer of the Export Development Canada agency Ken Kember, who said that his agency is willing to provide a favourable loan for construction of the new smelting plant, sulphuric acid factory and the purchase of new mining equipment for RTB Bor.
