Thomas Meyer and Diana Dragutinovic
At a press conference, held at the government building, Dragutinovic said that the loan for the construction of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad motorway section will be provided under favourable conditions, with a repayment period of 15 years, a grace period of 4 years and a 1% interest rate.
The Minister specified that almost €1.2 billion have been provided for Corridor 10, more precisely for motorway sections from Belgrade to the Hungarian border, from Belgrade to the Bulgarian border via Nis and from Nis to Macedonia and Greece.
Meyer pointed out that this is the second loan provided by the EBRD this year, specifying that in early 2009 the EBRD set aside €100 million for the Serbian railway company "Zeleznice Srbije".
He said that these loans will contribute to the recovery of the Serbian economy and the development of infrastructure.
Head of the Corridor 10 Managing Board Nemanja Ivanisevic announced that the European Investment Bank's Managing Board is expected to approve the provision of another loan, for the construction of the Prosek-Crvena Reka motorway section.
The construction of the 90 km long Nis-Dimitrovgrad motorway section will cost €795 million, he said, adding that it will help secure Serbia's role as a transit country.
