In an interview with FoNet news agency, following a meeting with Morocco officials, Jeremic pointed out that Morocco's stance regarding the Kosovo issue is firm enough and that Rabat will continue supporting Serbia.
The Minister recalled that Rabat is a member of a large number of international organisations, including the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, the Arab League and the Non-Aligned Movement.
There are no open issues between Serbia and Morocco, he said, adding that economic, cultural and security cooperation between the two countries is good but there is still room for improvement.
Jeremic announced that the two sides are soon to sign an agreement on double taxation avoidance and investment protection.
He said that prior to that, representatives of the two countries will have the opportunity to hold talks in New York during the UN General Assembly session.
In Rabat, Jeremic talked with Moroccan Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi and speakers of the Moroccan Parliament’s houses of representatives and advisors, Mustapha Mansouri and Maati Benkaddour respectively.
Jeremic also laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Mohammed the Fifth, the first King of Morocco after the end of French rule in 1955.
On Monday evening Jeremic met with Moroccan Foreign Minister Taieb Fassi El-Fihri, who later hosted an Iftar dinner for him.
El-Fihri confirmed Morocco’s stance that countries cannot come into being by unilaterally declaring their independence, adding that this is a process which must go through the UN, with the agreement of all sides.
They also discussed the issue of Western Sahara, whose independence was initially recognised by several countries, but later more than 20 of these countries, including India and Serbia withdrew their recognition.
