Yesterday, at the “Truth for Serbia” panel organised by the Office he heads, which brought together representatives of the Serbian community in London and Great Britain to discuss the importance of preserving historical memory, national identity and Serbia’s ties with its people in the diaspora, Milićević emphasised that the Serbian community in Great Britain is an important part of our national being.
Serbia is our common home, regardless of where we live. What brings us together is the awareness of belonging to the same people, language, culture and the same historical memory, which is why it is important to preserve the truth about Serbia with dignity, responsibility and unity, the Minister said.
He said that throughout history, as well as today, the Serbian people may have different political views, experiences and visions, but that there are topics that must be above all differences.
We may think differently about many political issues, have different experiences and views on certain historical periods, but one thing must unite us – the truth about Serbia and the future of Serbia and the Serbian people, stated Milićević.
There must be no division around this, the Minister said and expressed satisfaction that this message met with strong support from all those gathered at the panel.
He conveyed his gratitude to the representatives of the Serbian community in Great Britain for preserving ties with the homeland, and noted that Serbia will continue to strengthen cooperation with its people in the diaspora.
