Presenting Serbia’s economic possibilities, Dinkic underlined the Serbian government’s readiness to grant major infrastructure projects of up to €1 billion over the next three years to Chinese construction companies.
He noted that at President Tadic’s meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao agreement was reached to make this the next stage of Chinese companies’ direct investments in Serbia.
Chinese companies should come to Serbia and operate under the favourable terms offered by the Serbian government, such as low taxes and operating costs, Dinkic said, recalling that they could also export to countries with which Serbia has signed free trade agreements.
Dinkic voiced his expectation that President Tadic’s idea of setting up a special customs-free zone in cooperation with Chinese companies may soon be realised, since it has been well received by President Jintao and Prime Minister Jiabao.
The idea is also to build a harbour on the Danube to help facilitate the distribution of goods arriving from China, explained Dinkic.
The business forum, organised by the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce, was attended by businessmen from Shanghai and the Serbian delegation, led by President Boris Tadic.
The Serbian delegation has now concluded its visit to China.
