After a tour of the Fiat Automobiles Serbia factory where the production of the diesel powered Punto Classic began today, Dinkic said that there are two options.
He explained that if Fiat decides to produce a totally new class B car, 140,000 cars will be produced annually, while if they go for the class A, 250,000 cars will be produced annually in Kragujevac, along with an additional 50,000 Punto cars.
He said that regardless of Fiat’s decision, test production will begin by the end of 2010 and full production will start in 2011.
Dinkic stressed that the total investment by Fiat and the state in the newly formed factory Fiat Automobiles Serbia will stand at €700 million.
Thanks to increased output, Zastava workers will receive an average bonus of around RSD 30,000, spread over three monthly instalments, the Minister announced.
Zastava is the symbol of the Serbian economy, Dinkic said, noting that sales of the Fiat Punto have generated RSD 350 million.
He announced that all 5,000 Fiat Punto cars sold with a €1,000 discount were sold even before production started and that this quota might be increased.
Dinkic is accompanied by Minister for National Investment Plan Verica Kalanovic, State Secretary Nebojsa Ciric, Assistant Ministers of Economy Misela Nikolic and Milan Josipovic and Special Advisor to the Economy Minister Aleksandar Ljubic.
Also present are President of Fiat Automobili Srbija Executive Board Giovanni De Filippis and Italian Ambassador to Serbia Armando Varicchio.
