Slobodan Milosavljevic
Milosavljevic told the Beta news agency that the Committee will convene before the end of July, adding that he asked his Ministry’s representatives to conduct an analysis of price trends in their remits during the first half of 2009.
He said similar agreements on price projections in all sectors will be made at the Committee meeting.
Milosavljevic recalled that the inflation rate in the first half of the year stood at 9.1%, though in June it slowed down to 0.4%, adding however that during the second half of 2009 the difficult task of maintaining price stability, macroeconomic stability and purchasing power remains.
Our goal is to analyse what has already occurred, anticipate and project future trends and forestall any negative effects on prices and citizens’ purchasing power, the Minister said.
He explained that these will not be administrative measures but attempts at joint work to preserve purchasing power.
The Committee, formed at the proposal of the Ministry of Trade and Services, comprises representatives from that Ministry and the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Ministry of Energy and Mining, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the Serbian Statistics Office and the National Consumer Organisation of Serbia.
The Committee was formed for a period of 12 months and is to submit a report to the board every 60 days and to the government every 90 days.
Committee president is Minister of Trade and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic.
