Dinkic said during his visit to the 76th international agricultural fair in Novi Sad that IMT and IMR should focus on producing tractors with smaller engines, while a Serbian-Belarusian joint venture is planned to produce larger tractors.
IMT and IMR are already exporting to Africa and Asia but to enter the European market they need to upgrade their engines to “stage 2” and “stage 3” engines, Dinkic said.
Speaking on a strategic partner in Belarus, he stated that negotiations with MTZ are underway.
Serbia would offer land and factories, while Belarus would provide machines and equipment, Dinkic explained.
He also recalled that the government will donate €2,000 for farmers purchasing domestically-produced tractors.
Dinkic said that so far nearly 650 invoices have been issued during the fair, 450 of which are for IMT tractors and nearly 200 for IMR tractors.
He confirmed that if interest is bigger, the government is ready to increase the number of subsidised tractors to more than 2,000.
The Minister was accompanies by Director of the Novi Sad Fair Goran Vasic, IMT Director Slobodan Petrovic and IMR Director Zoran Radosavljevic.
Dinkic also announced subsidies for agriculture and noted that even during the crisis this sector has recorded rises in exports.
He said that he is satisfied with the offers at the fair, as well as with the number of visitors.
