Following the signing of the agreement, Srbijagas Director Dusan Bajatovic stated that the construction will begin on April 13 and will be financed from the Srbijagas budget.
The work is to be completed in 233 days, when the gas storage facility Banatski Dvor will be able to produce 5 million cubic metres of gas per day, said Bajatovic, adding that its capacity will be 300 million cubic meters next season.
He explained that if the gas crisis recurs, Serbia will have 60 days’ gas supply.
Bajatovic noted that Srbijagas, in cooperation with the Serbian government and the Ministry of Mining and Energy, will draft a plan to construct another gas storage facility and therefore ensure that Serbia has 6 months’ gas supply.
The Srbijagas Director said that Serbia and Russia are currently discussing the possibility of setting up a joint enterprise for the modernisation of Banatski Dvor, which will be in according with the energy agreement between Serbia and Russia.
Bajatovic added that Srbijagas will take over the construction of Banatski Dvor–Gospodjinci and set aside around €2 billion.
Heat owner Wilhelm Huber said that his company will try to meet all the deadlines for constructing the facility’s production line.
