Prices of goods, services up by 0.5%

The Serbian Statistics Office stated that retail prices of goods and services in March this year increased on average by 0.5% when compared to the previous month. The prices of goods went up by 0.4% while the prices of services increased by 0.5%.
In March 2009, compared to March 2008, retail prices went up by 9.9% and compared to December 2008 by 5.8%.
Living costs in March 2009 increased on average by 0.4% compared to the previous month.
In March 2009, compared to March 2008, living costs increased by 9.1% and compared to December 2008 by 4.2%.
The difference between the retail price index and the consumer price index was a result of the various influences that the rise in prices of particular items had on these indices.
By groups, in March 2009, compared to the previous month, the prices of agricultural goods went up by 4.1%, and the seasonal changes of the prices of vegetables, fruit, eggs and fish influenced the index.
The prices of industrial food products on average remained at the same level as the last month.
The prices of beverages increased by 1.6%.
The prices of tobacco remained on the same level as the last month.
The prices of industrial non-food products on average went up by 0.1%.
The prices of services went up by 0.5% because of the increase in the prices of utility services in some cities.
