Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic today met with representatives of leading international suppliers of components for the car industry who had expressed an interest in setting up production in Serbia.
Dinkic told car parts manufacturers about the incentives which the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) is offering to foreign investors.
He also informed them that Serbia currently has free trade agreements with Russia and countries signatory to the Central European Free Trade Agreement and that a similar agreement will soon be signed with Belarus, while negotiations for signing free trade agreements with Iran and Turkey are underway.
Serbia’s strategic goal is to sign free trade agreements with as many countries as possible before entering the EU because this will make the country attractive to investors who will create new jobs and establish export oriented production, said Dinkic.
Company representatives expressed interest in Greenfield as well as Brownfield investments and asked about the potential of various locations concerning the setting up of production.
We are ready to motivate investors to establish the production of car parts in Serbia, said Dinkic, adding that the car industry is one of the strategically important branches of industry in Serbia.
The meeting was also attended by Director of Fiat Automobile Serbia Giovanni de Filippis who informed car parts producers about Fiat’s plans and expressed an interest in cooperation.
