According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Serbia has recorded a surplus in trade with Iran.
In 2008 Serbia’s exports to Iran were worth approximately $40 million, which is 2.5 times higher than in 2007.
Minister Dinkic stressed that Serbia is planning to sign a free-trade agreement with Iran, which will significantly contribute to liberalisation of trade between the two countries.
The two sides agreed that they will primarily cooperate regarding petrochemicals, the metal and food industries as well as the pharmaceutical sector.
They also noted that Iran needs car parts, railway carriages and buses, which are produced in Serbia.
The Iranian Foreign Minister invited Serbian companies to participate in all infrastructure projects in Serbia.
Minister Dinkic and Iranian Trade Minister Masud Mir – Kazemia preside over the Mixed Commission for Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation, whose next session will be held in April, in Belgrade.
Before this session, an Iranian technical delegation will visit the Serbian petrochemical industry Petrohemija, concludes the statement.
