Speaking at a panel discussion taking place within the Business Forum on Mt Kopaonik, Dinkic announced that the government is preparing a model for solving the issue of mutual debt in the Serbian economy.
We are seriously considering that and will soon consult businessmen and bankers, and if we reach a consensus and find an efficient model for implementing multilateral compensation, this will be one of the new measures we will take, said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He also added that the government will look at the solutions to regulate old tax debts which privatised companies inherited.
Privatised companies which inherited debts from the previous socially-owned companies cannot pay them off at the moment. My proposal is to convert these debts into company capital, which the owner or someone else can buy, explained Dinkic.
He also said that by signing the contract with Fiat, car maker Zastava was saved at the last minute.
He also said that the current demand for Punto vehicles is 15.000, adding that this will encourage Fiat to accelerate production and expand capacity.
