The Serbian Statistics Office said that the average gross salary in Serbia in January 2009 amounted to RSD 40,245, down by 15.9% in nominal terms and 17.9% in real terms when compared to the previous month.
The average net salary in January stood at RSD 28,877, which is 15.9% less in nominal terms and 17.9% less in real terms when compared to the average net salary in December.
Compared with January 2008, the average January 2009 gross salary rose 14.1% nominally and 4.1% in real terms.
The average net salary in January 2009 in comparison with January 2008 went up nominally by 13.8% and by 3.8% in real terms.
From January 2009 the Statistics Office has expanded the range of its survey for calculating the average income, including the salaries paid to employees of private entrepreneurs, the date being provided by the Finance Ministry and the Tax Administration.
