State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric was present today at the opening of the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Belgrade.
Ciric pointed out that the Chamber of Commerce will help improve economic cooperation between the two countries and recalled that the British government invested approximately $300 million in Serbia in 2002.
He said that trade between Serbia and the Great Britain increased by 20% in 2008 compared to the previous year and was worth $432.2 million.
British Ambassador to Serbia Stephen Wordsworth said that the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce in London started operating several months ago and it has 11 sponsors and 4 companies as its members.
Pirot’s Tigar, the consulting and auditing company Price, Waterhouse & Coopers and the private hospital Bel Medic have already become members of the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Belgrade.
The Chamber of Commerce and the Chivning association signed a protocol concerning the granting of scholarships for PhD studies in the Great Britain.
