Consumer goods prices went up by 10.9% in November 2008 compared to November 2007.
By classification groups, compared with the previous month, the prices of garments and footwear went up by 1.4%, the biggest increase seen in November. The cost of housing, water, electricity and gas went up by 1%. The prices of services related to recreation and cultural activities went up by 0.8%, food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.7%, hospitality industry by 0.6%. Transport prices fell by 4.2% because of lower prices of oil derivatives.
The prices of other goods and services did not change significantly.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a special retail prices index calculated according to the methodology harmonised with recommendations for retail prices index calculation in the EU (Harmonised Price Index).
The CPI is defined as a measure of the average change in retail prices of goods and services used for personal consumption.
