President of the Vojvodina Executive Council Bojan Pajtic today opened the Terra Production plant in Indjija, worth around €11 million, whose output capacity is around 30,000 cans per hour.
As a strategic partner of Ball Packaging Europe, Terra Production will produce canned non-alcoholic beverages and beers.
Pajtic said that Vojvodina will keep supporting direct investment, which will create new jobs and boost the economy.
He stated that the number of unemployed in Vojvodina in 2007 was reduced by around 20%, adding that the trend was continued in 2008 with another reduction of 15%.
Indjija mayor Goran Jesic said that 40 plants have so far been erected in Indjija’s industrial zone, amongst which are chemical plant Henkel, battery factory Monbat, pump producer Grundfos and as of today Terra Production.
However, Jesic said that foreign investors’ interest in Indjija has somewhat decreased since October, but promised that with the help of the Vojvodina Executive Council the investment trend from 2007 and 2008 will continue next year as well.
The newly-opened plant is fully automatic and is preparing to introduce ISO and HACCP quality and safety systems.
