The Serbian Statistics Office said today that prices of goods and services in Serbia in October 2008 jumped 1.8% against the previous month, whereas in comparison with October 2007 they increased 12.3%.
Observed by groups, the greatest increase this October was recorded in the prices of housing, water, electric energy and gas (3.6%) due to the jump in the prices of coal and natural gas.
Another increase was recorded in alcoholic beverages (3.1%) and education (1.5%).
The greatest drop in prices was recorded in health services (2%) due to lower prices of medicines.
The prices of other goods did not change significantly.
CPI COICOP represents a special retail prices index calculated according to the methodology harmonised with recommendations for retail prices index calculation in the EU (Harmonised Price Index).
CPI COICOP is defined as a measure of the average change in retail prices of goods and services used for personal consumption.
