In the period January-September 2008, compared with the same period in 2007, industrial production went up by 3.1%.
Examined by sectors, in September 2008 compared with the same month in 2007, there was a growth of 3.6% in the processing sector, and a growth of 2.3% in mining and quarrying and 2.3% in energy production and distribution of electric energy, gas and water.
There was a growth in the production of non-durable consumer goods of 4.1%, durable consumer goods by 2.7%, energy by 2.2% and capital goods by 2%, though a fall of 0.4% was recorded in the production of intermediary products, energy excluded.
The industrial production volume in September 2008, compared to September 2007, showed that there was growth in 18 divisions, which participate in the structure of industrial production with 73%, while production fell in 11 divisions, which participate in the structure of industrial production by 27%.
Industrial production growth in September 2008, compared to September 2007, was mainly influenced by manufacture of products made of basic metals, food products and electric energy.
Industrial production growth in the first nine months of 2008, compared with the same period in 2007, was mainly influenced by the following sectors: manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, electric energy, basic metals and other traffic goods.
The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for September 2008, compared to the 2007 average, indicates a 0.5% growth in overall industrial production, while manufacturing stood at the same level.
The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for September 2008, compared to August 2008, indicates a 0.4% fall in overall industrial production and a 0.1% fall in manufacturing.
The production of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is monitored based on a sample of 342 selected units. In September, 130 enterprises submitted the requested data.
Including the assessment of the industrial production of SMEs, in September 2008 compared to the 2007 average, overall industrial production increased by 2% (otherwise it increased by 1.8%) and manufacturing by 4% (otherwise at 3.7%).
